Effects of group theraplay program on reduce aggression of infants at the welfare facilities

Abstract
This study was carried out the aim of examining the effects of group theraplay program to reduce aggression of infants at the welfare facilities. The subjects of research are 3 infants whose aggression level is serious in fully 4 years old who are living in the child welfare facilities in Daegu Metropolitan City. The program was conducted twice a week for 12 times and each session was comprised of 50 minutes. The program aimed to reduce aggression by promoting positive ego image by increasing confidence in oneself and other person through positive interaction and by enhancing emotional-regulation ability based on emotional understanding and expression. It was composed of totally 4 stages by dividing into the initial stage in forming confidence, the middle stage 1 in forming positive ego image, middle stage 2 in enhancing emotional-regulation ability, and the ending stage in enhancing cooperative ability and establishing positive ego image, according to objective by session. The results of this study are as follows. The group theraplay program reduced aggression of infants at the welfare facilities. The group theraplay program reduced aggression in all of 3 infants at the welfare facilities in mothers¡¯ reported aggression test. The group theraplay program reduced aggressive behavior(man-to-man, man-to-object, language) within session in all of 3 infants at the welfare facilities. Accordingly, this is a minor-case study, thereby having limitation in generalizing. However, the group theraplay program could be known to be effective for reducing aggression of infants at the welfare facilities.
